San Pedro Alcántara’s daytime fair opened on Wednesday, 14 October, with Marbella mayor Ángeles Muñoz drawing attention to the security arrangements and activities planned for visitors of different ages. The fair takes place in San Pedro Alcántara, within the municipality of Marbella.

Muñoz said the nighttime fair had begun without incident and expressed the hope that it would remain that way throughout the week. According to the town hall, more than 200 personnel are on duty each day, alongside around 30 cameras positioned at strategic points across the fairground.

The operation includes staff from the Local Police, National Police, fire service, Civil Protection and the Red Cross, among others. The municipality says their roles include both public safety and keeping the fairground in order.

At the Punto Morado, visitors can obtain wristbands designed to check whether a drink may have been adulterated. The town hall says the test involves adding a few drops of the drink to the wristband. It did not provide further details about the testing process in its announcement.

The programme also includes activities for families and older residents. Wednesday was designated Children’s Day, while more than 1,200 older people were attending a meal at the seniors’ marquee, according to Muñoz.

The mayor said she hoped the weather would remain favourable and that visitors would enjoy the celebrations safely. The town hall’s announcement did not specify the fair’s closing date or publish a detailed schedule of events.
