Companies in Málaga province are forecast to recruit 4,090 additional workers for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales period, a 4.2% increase on last year, according to estimates from recruitment firm Randstad reported by SUR in English. The forecast covers seasonal hiring to meet demand during the shopping campaign; it is not a count of permanent jobs.
Black Friday falls on 27 November this year, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. Businesses typically bring in extra staff to manage increased shopping activity across stores, warehouses and delivery networks.
Málaga is forecast to have Andalucía’s second-highest number of new jobs for the period, behind Seville, where Randstad expects 4,935. But its projected increase is modest compared with most other provinces in the region. Córdoba is the only one with a smaller rise, at 2.7%; Almería has the largest projected increase, at 13.6%.
Across Andalucía, Randstad forecasts 21,020 jobs, up 7.8% on the previous year. The nationwide estimate is 124,300, a rise of 5.3%. The firm expects transport and logistics to account for 63.7% of hiring nationally, with retail making up the remaining 36.3%.
Logistics employers are expected to seek order pickers, packers, forklift operators, warehouse assistants and delivery drivers. Customer service roles may also be needed as online orders increase. In shops, the expected positions include sales assistants, promoters and sales advisers, particularly in areas such as technology, beauty and food.
Randstad’s report says employers are recruiting ahead of the busiest weeks so new staff can learn products, sales approaches and workplace procedures. It also notes growing demand for workers comfortable using digital tools and helping customers across both online and in-store channels.
The figures are forecasts, rather than confirmed vacancies or completed contracts. The source report does not give a breakdown by town or municipality, nor details of pay, contract duration or how many roles will be available to local residents. Jobseekers will need to check individual employer listings as seasonal recruitment progresses.
