Torremolinos will host its first Ruta 091 charity race on Friday, 30 October, with proceeds going to the local Spanish Red Cross branch, Cruz Roja Torremolinos. The event is open to runners and families, with races planned on the promenade in Los Álamos and Playamar.
The start and finish area is outside Chiringuito Mari y Sergio at Paseo Marítimo 16, near the El Galeón car park in Los Álamos. Children’s races are scheduled first: participants aged four to nine are due to start at 6pm, followed by those aged 10 to 13 at about 6.15pm. The adult race is expected to begin at around 6.30pm.
The adult route covers 5.09 kilometres. It follows the seafront past Los Álamos and Playamar beaches, turns at the Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas roundabout and returns to the finish. Adult participants have up to one hour to complete the course. Runners with reduced mobility are scheduled to start one minute ahead of the main field.
Children aged 10 to 13 will run 400 metres, with a 15-minute time limit. The youngest group will cover 200 metres and have 10 minutes. The route is due to be closed to traffic, apart from authorised vehicles and those used for medical or emergency purposes.
Entry costs €13 for adults and €10 for children under 13, including administration fees. Organisers have set a combined limit of 1,000 places: 750 for adults and 250 for children. Registration is due to close at noon on Monday, 26 October, or sooner if all places are taken. Entries are through the official Ruta 091 website.
Each registered runner receives a race number and technical T-shirt; adult numbers also include a timing chip for official results. People who do not want to run can make a donation through the “Dorsal 0” option, which does not include a T-shirt.
Race numbers are due to be available for collection at the National Police station on Calle Skal 12. The stated collection times are 10am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm on 28 and 29 October, and 10am to 2pm on 30 October. Adults must bring identification. Participants under 18 need written permission from a parent or guardian and a copy of that adult’s DNI. Those aged 14 to 17 may enter the adult race; organisers recommend that minors are accompanied by an adult throughout.
The Torremolinos event is part of the National Police’s Ruta 091 series, which the supplied report says has been held in Spanish towns and cities since 2017. Funds raised locally will go to Cruz Roja Torremolinos, although no fundraising target is stated.
