The Andalusian government has begun resurfacing the A-92 at Puerto de la Mora as part of its Extraordinary Resurfacing Plan. The regional Department of Development is carrying out work on a 48-kilometre stretch, between kilometre markers 268 and 220, with €3.5 million allocated from the plan. The work is scheduled to continue until October.
The first section covers kilometres 263 to 265 in the direction of Almería, near Puerto de la Mora, where traffic is lighter. Resurfacing is being carried out during the day. When work reaches the stretch between Granada and Láchar, it may move to night-time hours if needed to limit disruption, given the high traffic volumes in that area, particularly between Santa Fe and Láchar.
Regional Minister for Development and Mobility Mario Muñoz-Atanet said work would take place on alternating carriageways, with signs in place throughout, and would not close the road, although brief delays were possible. He also said work would be done at night and in sections where necessary to reduce disruption, including on days with special traffic operations.
Muñoz-Atanet said that nearly 90 kilometres of the A-92 had been resurfaced in recent years through the MASAI programmes. He said the new plan includes work on 126 kilometres of the A-92 in Almería, Granada, Málaga and Seville provinces.
The €151.5 million plan is described by the regional government as its largest investment in road-surface improvements in 20 years. Its main objective is to work on 1,000 kilometres across 137 regional roads. The planned work includes repairing potholes and soft spots, milling and replacing pavement, repairing the roadbed and lower layers, laying asphalt mixes, sealing surfaces, repainting road markings and replacing or raising safety barriers and other road equipment.
