The Andalusian government presented the programme for the second edition of Órgano de Andalucía. Música y Patrimonio, a concert series focused on historic organs, music and the region’s monumental and natural heritage. Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport Minister Patricia del Pozo presented the programme at the chapel of Cortijo Los Montes in La Puebla del Río, Seville province.
Del Pozo said the series would bring together leading performers and connect the instruments’ physical heritage with the intangible heritage of sacred music. The concerts will feature organs built in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, alongside performers including organists, singers and wind and percussion musicians. The programme includes a performance by Carlo Torlontano on the Alpine horn with organist Francesco Di Lernia, as well as a recital by Frédéric Deschamps in Arcos de la Frontera, featuring European music from the Renaissance to the 18th century.
The series will also present combinations such as organ and sackbut, and 19th-century repertoire for historic cornets and organ, performed on original instruments. The programme is intended to draw attention to the organs’ craftsmanship, architecture, mechanics and sound, as well as their relationship with the acoustics of the spaces for which they were built.
The first concerts are scheduled for La Zubia on September 26 and Aldeire on September 27, both in Granada province. The series then visits Vélez-Rubio and Gádor in Almería; Úbeda and Baeza in Jaén; Antequera and Marbella in Málaga; Castaño del Robledo in Huelva; Cabra in Córdoba; and Bornos and Arcos de la Frontera in Cádiz. Concerts in La Puebla del Río and Marchena are scheduled in Seville province, with the final two performances planned for Marchena on November 21 and 22.
Admission to all concerts is free. The complete programme is available on the Andalusian government’s cultural agenda website.
