From November, traffic currently using the Ronda de Poniente (A-3050) will be diverted onto a road built for the first phase of Córdoba’s Northern Ring Road works. The change, coordinated by the regional Department of Public Works and the Córdoba City Council, is intended to allow work on the infrastructure to continue.
Public Works and Mobility Minister Mario Muñoz-Atanet announced the change after meeting Córdoba Mayor José María Bellido at the city hall. They discussed a project that began in late 2025 and has a budget of €30 million.
The 350 metres between the María de Maeztu and Turruñuelos roundabouts will change from two carriageways in each direction to one lane in each direction. Vehicles will use the newly built road to help mitigate the expected traffic disruption. Pedestrians will retain a north-south connection at all times, using the crossing on the Ronda de Poniente east of the María de Maeztu roundabout.
The minister and mayor advised motorists to avoid the road once the work begins unless its use is strictly necessary, and to take alternative routes where possible.
Also attending the meeting were Adolfo Molina, the regional government’s representative in Córdoba; Emilio Asensio, director general of Roads; Carmen Granados, the regional Public Works delegate in Córdoba; and Bernardo Jordano, Córdoba’s deputy mayor for Mobility.
