Rural roads in Archidona are undergoing another round of repairs after a September downpour damaged sections that had been maintained just over a month earlier, the town council says.
The council said the storm brought more than 65 litres of rain in about an hour. Damage affected routes serving farms, homes and estates, with repair work taking place in several parts of the municipality, including near the cooperative connection and in Las Lagunillas.
The work involves spreading crushed aggregate over damaged surfaces, then watering and compacting it. About 15 lorry loads of aggregate are being delivered each day, the council said. The repairs are intended to restore passable conditions.
The town requested emergency work through the Málaga North-East public works machinery consortium. The intervention is being carried out using working days allocated by Málaga Provincial Council for emergencies, so the town hall will not bear the cost of this additional work, according to the local authority.
