Málaga City Council will begin rolling out Zona Empleo in October, with initial activities planned for the Centro-Norte area, Las Flores and Cruz del Humilladero. The programme is intended to support unemployed residents and help local businesses and business projects develop.
The initiative will be delivered progressively through 2029 by the city’s Municipal Institute for Training and Employment (IMFE). Its stated aims include improving job prospects, strengthening digital skills and supporting entrepreneurship, as well as the development, consolidation and competitiveness of business projects.
Zona Empleo is organised around three strands: employment clubs; training and guidance in digital skills; and training and advice for entrepreneurs and businesses. The council says the offer will combine group activities and training with specialist guidance and individual support.
The programme forms part of Conecta_Málaga, the city’s Integrated Action Plan. The plan sits within a European framework for integrated local-authority action focused on sustainable urban development and social and territorial cohesion.
Funding for the plan comes through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under Spain’s 2021–2027 multi-regional programme. The council has published further information about Zona Empleo on the IMFE website.
The announcement does not specify the dates, venues or registration process for the first activities. Residents seeking details can consult the programme page at imfe.malaga.eu/empleo/zona-empleo-conecta_malaga/.
