The festival is dedicated to Paco Vargas, a former member of Peña Flamenca Sierra Blanca, in recognition of his work promoting and teaching flamenco, the association’s president Juan Recio said.

Alongside the festival, the association’s ‘El cole a la peña flamenca’ programme will run from 16 to 20 November. More than 500 pupils from local schools are due to take part in two daily sessions introducing them to flamenco singing, guitar, rhythm and percussion. A further edition for secondary-school students is planned for the week before Andalusia Day in February.
