Puerto José Banús SA, the company that manages Puerto Banús in Marbella, is negotiating with a prospective strategic investor as it plans to expand its marina-management business. The company’s process is at an advanced stage, but no deal has been finalised and its partner and terms have not been confirmed.
The aim is to use Puerto Banús as a base for growth in Spain and other Mediterranean markets, rather than simply to end the Vidiella family’s involvement. The family has controlled the marina since 1983. The company appointed EY as financial adviser in April to plan the transaction and approached a small group of investors.
Puerto Banús operates under a concession granted in 1967 that runs until 2066. The marina has 915 berths and 42 commercial premises. Further details of any agreement have not been confirmed.
