Marbella’s Local Democracy Week programme will bring residents into municipal venues and create opportunities to meet district representatives. The listed activities run across October, with guided visits on 27 and 28 October and neighbourhood meetings in five districts.

On Tuesday 27 October, the city is offering two guided visits to the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella, at 17:30 and 18:30. The tour will include areas normally closed to the public, such as dressing rooms, technical spaces and backstage areas. Places are limited to 20 people per time slot, and registration is required.

The following day, Wednesday 28 October, a guided visit is scheduled for 17:00 at the Costa del Sol Environmental Complex in Casares. Participants will be able to see how waste is received, sorted and treated. The council says a bus service will be available to people who register; places are limited and advance booking is required.

Residents can also attend the “Conocer mi Distrito” meetings, which are free and open until capacity is reached. The next listed session is for Distrito Este, on Tuesday 27 October at 18:30 at the district office, Calle Antonio de Nebrija 12. Nueva Andalucía’s meeting follows on Wednesday 28 October at 18:30 at the Centro Polivalente.

At these meetings, district councillors will explain how their municipal boards work, report on completed actions and current projects, and take questions and suggestions from residents. The programme describes them as a forum for direct discussion about neighbourhood needs and local plans.

The wider initiative also includes school visits by councillors for Year 5 primary pupils, running until 29 October during school hours. A children’s drawing competition is linked to the school activity, with entries due by 30 October through participating schools. The council says 30 finalists will be selected and prizes awarded to three entries.

A further event is planned for Saturday 7 November at 12:00: a public institutional gathering at the plenary hall in the Trapiche de Guadaiza Cultural Centre, marking the 40th anniversary of the European Charter of Local Self-Government. Entry is free until capacity is reached.

The council presents the week as a way to make local government more accessible and encourage residents to take part in decisions affecting their neighbourhoods. For the theatre and waste-facility tours, people should check the council’s event listing and complete the required registration before attending.
