Ceramic objects recovered during archaeological work in Marbella’s historic centre will go on display at a free exhibition on Friday, 6 November. Organised by the city’s Department of Culture, Education and Historical Heritage, the exhibition begins at 6pm at Parque de la Constitución.

Titled “Trozos de Historia: Conjunto cerámicas andalusíes” (“Fragments of History: Andalusi Ceramic Collection”), the display brings together pieces from the municipal archaeological holdings. The Ayuntamiento says they date from the Andalusi period and were found in different interventions in the historic centre.

The objects were made for everyday use, including preparing, eating, carrying and storing food, as well as lighting and personal hygiene. Their range of purposes offers visitors a glimpse of daily life and the economy in al-Andalus, as well as cultural traditions connected with the area.

The city’s description also highlights changes in pottery after Muslim populations arrived in the Iberian Peninsula, bringing new techniques, shapes and finishes. The pieces illustrate the variety of Andalusi ceramics, from glazed or coated surfaces to decoration made with paint, incision and other methods.

Attendance is free, but advance registration is required and capacity is limited. To reserve a place, call +34 952 768 710. Registration is available from Monday, 2 November, between 10am and 1pm.

The venue is at the Department of Parks and Gardens building, Edificio Cantarrana, Avenida del Mercado 10, 29602 Marbella. The Ayuntamiento presents the exhibition as an opportunity to explore ceramics as a source of historical and cultural evidence, and the legacy of al-Andalus in the municipality.
