Marbella’s Hospital Real de la Misericordia will host a presentation of *Las cenizas de Bárbara Capocci*, a novel co-written by Nery Santos Gómez and José Luis Marín Aranda, on Thursday, 5 November 2026. The event is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
Admission is free until the venue reaches capacity. The venue is at Plaza Practicante Manuel Cantos in central Marbella. The Ayuntamiento’s event listing does not provide further details about the format of the presentation or whether advance booking is available.
The novel is set on La Palma during the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano. Its story brings together themes of desire, betrayal and memory, alongside experiences of abuse, migration and personal rupture, according to the municipal description.
The authors have also built an unusual exchange of narrative voices into the book. Santos Gómez narrates Marco, a male character, while Marín Aranda narrates Bárbara, the female protagonist. The listing says this approach is intended to place each writer within the perspective of a character of another gender.
Poetry appears at the opening of some episodes, while the story moves between eroticism, passion and love and a tension between destruction and the possibility of renewal. The description presents the novel as both a sensory and emotional reading experience.
Santos Gómez is a Venezuelan-Spanish writer and cultural manager. Marín Aranda, from Algeciras, is a writer, painter and poet. The municipal listing notes that the book was co-written by the pair and has received the publisher’s Escriduende award for best novel.
The presentation gives readers in Marbella a chance to hear about the book directly from its creators, although the event listing does not confirm whether both authors will attend. Anyone planning to go should note the 7pm start and that entry is subject to available space.
