Marbella has begun a sewer-network upgrade on Yuste and Escorial streets in Nueva Andalucía, with the municipality putting the cost at about €230,000 and the construction period at three months.
The works cover around 360 metres across the two streets and 2,200 square metres. The project includes installing a new collector pipe on each street, separating pipes where needed, adding around 20 inspection chambers and resurfacing the affected road.
Marbella’s public works councillor, Diego López, said the upgrade is intended to address sewer-network saturation, particularly during rain, and improve wastewater drainage. He said some old pipes ran beneath private plots, making maintenance and repairs more difficult; the replacement infrastructure will be beneath the public road and connected to the main network.
