Marbella has put out to tender a four-year contract to hire machinery and vehicles, with drivers, for maintaining its coastline and waterways. The contract is valued at €1.5 million a year, or €6 million over four years, with an option to extend it by one year.
The fleet could include up to 57 types of equipment. The planned work covers removing the invasive seaweed Rugulopteryx okamurae, reshaping and restoring beaches, moving sand and maintaining the 21 streams and four rivers in the municipality. The equipment is also intended to help crews respond to storms, heavy rain, landslides and embankment collapses.
The tender replaces an expired contract. No award date or start date is provided in the available information.
