A voluntary project in Triana, a village in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga, plans to add hand-painted ceramic tiles beside house numbers on 14 streets. The tiles are not intended to replace the existing numbers.

Local resident Francisco Javier Medina is leading the project. Artist Pepe Gálvez is due to design and make the individual tiles, drawing on fruit, trees and rural traditions associated with the area. The selected street names include Cerezo, Limonero, Manzano, Paseros and Naranjo.

The project is intended to give the streets distinctive signs and reflect Triana’s agricultural roots. No completion date has been announced.
