Estepona has awarded a €414,304 contract to Prefabricados López y Mochón SL to supply and install permanent walkways and decking on its beaches. The contract includes 1,250 linear metres of paths, each 1.8 metres wide, and 82 concrete decking units: 42 with drainage for showers and foot-washing points, and 40 for beach facilities.

The paths will have a non-slip, wood-effect finish and are intended to improve access between the seafront promenade or coastal walkway and the sand and beach services. The project is designed to meet Andalucía’s accessibility standards. The supplier will also install 30 more footbridges than originally specified, and the contract provides for a four-year warranty.

Installation must be completed within 49 days of the contract signing, shortened from the 84 days set out in the tender documents. The walkway work forms part of a wider beach-upgrade plan budgeted at almost €900,000. A separate €421,685 contract for refurbishing 16 beach facilities is being put out to tender; these include lifeguard and first-aid buildings, accessible toilets and a storage unit for rescue equipment and amphibious chairs.
