The La Cala de Mijas Lions Diabetic Support Group is holding its eighth annual walkathon on Sunday, November 8, with participants invited to take on a sponsored 5km route from the town’s boardwalk.
The walk starts at 10am and is intended to raise funds for efforts to identify diabetes in the local population. The event’s message is “Early Detection Saves Lives”.
After the walk, activities are planned at Torreon Square and along the boardwalk. Organisers say the market will have around 40 stalls, with live entertainment from 11am and free health checks. Entry to the market is free.
People can register their interest at the Lions Charity Shop in La Cala or Ibex in Fuengirola. Those collecting sponsorship are asked to bring their completed forms to the event.
