A Filipino-themed charity dinner at La Nave restaurant in Los Boliches, Fuengirola, raised around €620 for children taking part in outreach activities in Cebu, Philippines, according to a report by Euro Weekly News. The event formed part of a broader fundraising campaign that had collected approximately €1,000 so far.

The campaign was organised by Swedish musician and entrepreneur Spencer F. Strandh, who has Filipino family roots. The report said guests were served traditional dishes including adobo, pancit and lumpia, with a drink included in the meal. La Nave also provided support for the evening.

Funds are intended for children reached through Ascension Lutheran Church’s outreach programmes in Liloan, north of Cebu City. About 20 children currently benefit from the activities, according to the report.

The planned purchases include school materials, educational resources, arts and crafts supplies, food and other necessities identified by local partners. Strandh’s fundraiser is due to continue until the end of the year.

Strandh plans to travel to Cebu in January 2027 to buy and help distribute supplies with the church’s outreach team. The report said travel, accommodation and personal costs for the trip will be paid by Strandh separately; donations are to be used for the children’s supplies.

The campaign grew from Strandh’s experiences during visits to the Philippines, including meeting a young street vendor in Cebu City, the report said. As he approached his 29th birthday, he chose to direct the effort towards helping children rather than receiving birthday gifts.

For Fuengirola diners and donors, the event has turned a local meal into a contribution towards practical support for children overseas. Strandh said he intends to share updates after the supplies have been bought and distributed. The report directed people seeking further information to the fundraiser’s GoFundMe page.
