Marbella residents will be able to apply for places on a guided hike through the Sierra del Camorro and around the Iznájar reservoir on Saturday, 16 January 2027. The route, part of the provincial Azulea outdoor-sport programme, starts at 10am in Cuevas de San Marcos, north of Málaga city.
The circular walk is 10.88 kilometres long, with 452 metres of accumulated ascent and a maximum elevation of 662 metres. The Marbella town hall listing estimates the outing will take four hours and five minutes and rates it as medium difficulty. The itinerary includes Cueva de Belda and a viewpoint over the reservoir.
The application period listed by the council runs from 16 to 30 December 2026. The activity is recommended for people aged 12 and over. Participants must be registered with Marbella’s sports activities programme and meet the age requirement; the council says registration can be completed through its electronic office.
The event has 24 places in the activity specification. A separate table of activities allocated to Marbella lists 25 places for the same hike, so the council’s published information gives two different capacity figures. Applicants should check the Azulea activity listing for the current availability and registration details.
The meeting point is the football ground in Cuevas de San Marcos, rather than the Marbella sports office named in the council’s general contact information. Travel to the meeting point is not included. Walkers are asked to bring water, hiking footwear, comfortable clothing and sun protection; walking poles are optional.
The organiser provides a specialist guide, a first-aid kit and civil-liability and accident insurance. The council says Azulea activities are free while places remain, but access is initially allocated through participating municipalities. Places may be opened to the general public if they are not filled through that process; the activity’s online agenda is the place to check for any such release.
Azulea is a Diputación-funded programme offering outdoor sports and leisure activities through participating municipalities. Marbella’s allocation also includes a surf beginners’ course and a caving activity, according to the council listing, but the January hike is the next listed opportunity for residents to take part.
