Andalusian regional president Juanma Moreno has urged the government’s new provincial delegates to work with “closeness, dialogue, rigour and empathy” to keep the “Andalusian way” central to the regional executive’s work in the new 13th legislature. He made the request at a swearing-in ceremony at the San Telmo Palace for the regional government’s representatives in the eight provinces.
Three delegates are taking up their posts in this legislature: Erik Domínguez in Jaén, Francisco Góngora in Almería and Berta Centeno in Huelva. The other five remain in office: Mercedes Colombo in Cádiz, Adolfo Molina in Córdoba, Antonio Granados in Granada, Patricia Navarro in Málaga and Ricardo Sánchez in Seville. Francisco Javier Ros also continues as the Andalusian government’s deputy delegate in the Campo de Gibraltar.
“You will be the face of the Government of Andalusia in each province and, above all, of an approach to public administration that offers stability and dialogue, reaches out to other administrations and puts citizens at the centre,” Moreno said. He called on the delegates to work hard and with dedication and rigour, and said their offices should be accessible, effective decision-making centres for Andalusians.
Moreno also stressed the importance of managing affairs on the ground, with each delegate closely monitoring conditions in their province. He described proximity as an added value in public administration, bringing with it responsibility as well as good management, including a human approach, sensitivity, empathy and a thorough understanding of local circumstances.
He set out priorities for the new legislature: further strengthening essential public services; supporting and energising productive sectors; and addressing people’s main concerns, including job creation, access to housing, young people’s circumstances, and support policies for women and families.
Moreno asked the delegates to earn the trust, credibility and support of Andalusians by giving real problems a visible face and mobilising available resources to provide an appropriate institutional response.
