On 15 September 2026, the Andalusian government said it had renewed its commitment to the Misión Centre for mobility and intelligent vehicles in Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga. The agreement with the town council was signed through the Andalusian Digital Agency (ADA).
Regional Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Development and Public Administration José Antonio Nieto said Misión was one of four projects of its kind in Andalusia and that the Alhaurín de la Torre centre had potential to grow. After funding linked to the Recovery and Resilience Facility ends, the ADA will fund the project from its own budget, alongside the town council.
The centre has developed as a specialist smart mobility hub in the regional Misión network. Of the programme’s 144 startups, 32 are linked to the Alhaurín de la Torre centre. Its areas of work include micromobility, real-time geolocation, data analysis, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) drones and environmental Internet of Things (IoT) sensors.
The next phase aims to help projects move beyond acceleration and become sustainable, scalable businesses, with stronger links to investment, financing, customers and markets. Misión has an investment platform and will continue setting technological challenges that allow solutions to be tested in real-world settings.
The programme has a total investment of €12 million and four specialist centres: smart mobility in Alhaurín de la Torre; agrotech in El Ejido, Almería; gaming and digital content in Jaén; and port logistics in Algeciras, Cádiz. The regional government said the renewed phase would strengthen public-private collaboration and support new technological challenges.
