Andalusia’s regional Minister for Housing, Youth and Spatial Planning, Rocío Díaz, visited the completed urbanisation works at La Dehesa in Ronda, Málaga. The residential development, promoted by the Andalusian Housing and Rehabilitation Agency (AVRA), provides 17,223 square metres of residential plots with capacity for 347 homes. The project cost €4,229,656.

Díaz said the work had recovered land whose development had been stalled for years and prepared it for future residential projects. The initial urbanisation works began in 2008 but were later halted after about 20% had been completed. The original project had become outdated, requiring the urban development work to be undertaken almost from the beginning.

The development comprises four residential plots. Plot P4 covers 5,882 square metres and has capacity for 152 apartment homes; P3 covers 5,174 square metres and could accommodate 143; and P1 covers 4,379 square metres and could accommodate 52 terraced houses. Plot P2, covering 1,788 square metres, will be managed by Ronda City Council.

The plan also allocates 4,350 square metres for facilities, 4,863 square metres for green space and 19,544 square metres for new roads. Díaz said the completion of the urbanisation works opens a new phase for the site. The regional government will consider options for delivering future homes, including direct development, public-private partnerships or exchanging land for affordable housing.

The visit was also attended by Carolina España, the regional government’s third vice-president and minister for Economy, Finance and European Funds, and Ronda Mayor María de la Paz Fernández. España said housing was a priority for the regional government and cited more than 18,300 subsidised homes promoted in Andalusia since 2019. She also referred to planned tax changes for 2027, including a reduction in the Property Transfer Tax and a 99% reduction in inheritance and gift tax on a primary residence inherited between siblings.
