In a government announcement dated 5 October 2026, Antonio Sanz, First Vice-President of the regional government and Minister for the Presidency, Health and Emergencies, announced the launch of ‘Andalucía Dona’, the new website of the Andalusian Network for Transfusion Medicine, Tissues and Cells (RAMTTC). Sanz said the site responds to a longstanding request from donors and professionals for a digital space to provide useful information to the public and strengthen communication among those involved in donation.
The portal is intended to be accessible and easy to use, with information, answers to common questions and access to services and resources related to blood, plasma, tissue and cell donation, as well as transfusion medicine services in Andalusia. The announcement described it as a resource for more direct, transparent and accessible communication.
The website includes updated information on nearby blood and plasma donation sites, the status of supplies and other resources. Users can also contact their provincial centre to ask about their donations, blood group or donation components, connect with their designated clinician, raise questions and check whether they meet the requirements to donate blood or plasma. RAMTTC also shares information, resources and donor testimonials on Instagram at @andaluciadona.
The project forms part of the Andalusian Health Service’s regional portal strategy, which aims to develop a consistent network of portals supported by shared, secure and accessible technology. The site was developed using Drupal, open-source software that allows ongoing updates and new features.
The wider portal project began in 2023, when a content framework was defined for districts, hospitals, health management areas and other Andalusian Health Service centres, followed by pilot projects at several centres. Since then, the network has added the 061 Emergency Health Centre, Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital in Málaga, the Northern Almería Health Management Area, Alto Guadalquivir Hospital, the Northeastern Granada Health Management Area, the Eastern Málaga-Axarquía Health Management Area and Málaga Regional University Hospital, which also launched its new digital space on 5 October 2026.
