Power interruptions were reported on Sunday, November 1, in parts of Málaga city, Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Marbella, Vélez-Málaga, Nerja, Benamargosa and Benamocarra. The incidents affected separate sections of the local distribution network; the report does not indicate that every resident in those municipalities lost power.

A separate, longer outage began at about 9pm on Saturday in Santa Rosalía-Maqueda, in Málaga city’s Campanillas district. Euro Weekly News said distributor records initially listed 1,141 customers as affected. An estimated restoration time of 11am on Sunday was given, but residents were still reporting problems after that deadline.

The cause of the Campanillas outage had not been officially confirmed. Local accounts cited by Euro Weekly News suggested a possible transformer fire, but the report said this had not been established.
