Málaga City Council has cancelled its municipal Halloween programme after the Spanish government declared official mourning for a railway accident in Toledo. The mourning period began at midnight on 29 October and runs until midnight on Saturday, 31 October, according to the council’s notice dated 29 October 2026.
The cancellations cover events organised by the council or due to take place in municipal facilities. They affect planned activities across the city’s districts, including parties, parades and horror-themed attractions. The notice does not say whether any events will be rescheduled.
In the eastern district, the council has called off “Terror en el Este” at the Alberto Suárez ‘Pipi’ gardens and inside the Curro Román auditorium at Playa Virginia, as well as a haunted trail in Playa Virginia park. A Halloween party planned for Parque de la Alegría in Ciudad Jardín has also been cancelled.
Bailén-Miraflores loses “El 4 de las 4 del terror”, which was due to use four locations: Monseñor Bocanegra square, Aurelio Mogollón square, Cabas Galván Street square and José Iturbi boulevard. Free activities planned at San Rafael Park in Cruz del Humilladero and a Halloween party at Huelin Park in Carretera de Cádiz are also off.
In Churriana, the “Noche del Terror” and its themed performances will not go ahead. Campanillas events at the Antonio Beltrán Lucena Cultural Centre have been cancelled too. These included a haunted trail, a photo opportunity and workshops intended for people with neurodivergent conditions, as well as a parade from Francisco Quevedo school to the cultural centre.
The notice also lists a haunted trail at the Hermano Mayor Enrique Luque Núñez park in Puerto de la Torre. In Teatinos-Universidad, activities organised by the Teatinos-Ciudad de la Justicia residents’ association with district support have been cancelled. The council has additionally called off the Poloween Horror Fest scheduled for 30 October at the National Digital Content Hub.
Residents and visitors who had planned to attend should check with organisers before travelling. The council’s announcement applies to the listed municipal events; it does not provide information about privately organised Halloween activities or any replacement dates.
