Mijas has opened applications for its 2026 grants for local social organisations, with €850,000 available across four funding lines. Applications must be submitted through the municipal electronic office by 19 November, inclusive, the town hall said on 29 October.
The grants are awarded through a competitive process. Eligible applicants include associations, foundations and other non-profit organisations that meet the municipal conditions, including registration with Mijas’s register of associations and entities and having their work based in the municipality.
The largest allocation, €360,000, is for organisations’ running and maintenance costs. A further €230,000 is set aside for projects supporting people whose living conditions are affected by illness, addiction or physical or mental difficulties.
Another €180,000 is available for projects promoting social or employment inclusion among vulnerable people or those at risk of exclusion. The fourth line supports child and adolescent protection and prevention programmes, including work addressing school dropout and support for young people at risk. The town hall’s announcement does not specify the amount allocated to this line.
Applicants must also be up to date with tax and social security obligations, have municipal public-utility status and not fall under any of the exclusions in Spain’s General Subsidies Law. Each organisation may submit no more than one application per funding line. An additional application is allowed under the inclusion line for a project specifically focused on preventing and addressing homelessness.
The municipality says projects must have an impact in Mijas or benefit its residents. Applications will be assessed on factors including the project’s quality, clarity, coherence and technical viability; the organisation’s relevant experience and expertise; expected social impact; and the number of people likely to benefit.
The grants may be combined with other aid or income for the same purpose, including funding from public bodies or private sources. Only eligible costs incurred within the period set by the call can be funded, although payment may be made during the applicable justification period.
The application window closes on 19 November. The announcement directs organisations to submit through the municipal electronic office; it does not give a date for decisions or payments.
