Six villages in Málaga’s Axarquía are candidates for the 2027 Pueblo Mágico de Andalucía title: Alfarnate, Canillas de Aceituno, Comares, Cómpeta, El Borge and Moclinejo. They are competing with 51 other Andalusian villages, and the winner will be chosen by public vote.
The voting period runs until 13 November, with the result scheduled for 16 November. Under the competition rules, adults who live in Spain can vote regardless of nationality. A maximum of three votes per IP address is allowed each day across all competition categories.
The villages’ examples of local character include handmade crochet decorations in Cómpeta, Christmas ornaments made from recycled materials in Canillas de Aceituno, and Moclinejo’s Easter Huerto del Niño, built with flowerpots borrowed from residents and returned after the celebrations. Comares has also carried out maintenance on gardens, paths and access roads, while El Borge promotes its Moscatel grape and raisin heritage.
