Andalusian regional president Juanma Moreno and Fundación “la Caixa” president Isidro Fainé signed a framework agreement in Seville covering cooperation between the two institutions in 2026 and 2027. The agreement will be renewed every two years rather than annually, a change intended to make the development of some projects and programmes more efficient.
The foundation has budgeted €76 million for 2026, up €8 million from the €68 million allocated in 2025. Planned spending for 2027 is €78 million.
Moreno thanked the foundation for signing the agreement. He said it would support the aim of building a more equal and inclusive Andalusia, and noted that the foundation has worked with the region since 2005 on social challenges. These include support for older people and efforts to address unwanted loneliness; assistance for people with disabilities, people at social risk and victims of gender-based violence; help for hospitalised children and families facing child poverty; and employment support for people experiencing barriers to work.
The foundation’s Incorpora programme, which has worked to help people in vulnerable situations find employment since 2006, supported 5,927 hires in Andalusia last year. Of those, 3,149 were women. The programme worked with 2,467 companies.
The foundation’s Older People programme has operated for 29 years through Andalusia’s Active Participation Centres network, under an agreement running until December 2027. Two centres joined last year—Almería II and Valverde del Camino—bringing the total to 62.
CaixaProinfancia supports children and families, at the request of local organisations, with educational and psychological assistance and support through different stages of life, aiming to help break cycles of poverty. The programme, previously delivered locally, will gain a regional framework and involve the regional Education Department for the first time. Schools refer children and their families to the project.
