Spain’s food safety agency has warned consumers not to eat a specific batch of Casa de Castrelo pasteurised egg whites after Salmonella was detected. The affected product is sold in refrigerated 500ml plastic bottles.
The batch identified in the alert is numbered 6265 and carries a use-by date of 27 October 2026. The warning applies to bottles matching those details, not to all egg products or every item made by the brand.
Initial distribution was reported in Andalucía, after regional health authorities notified the national agency, AESAN. The alert says the product may also have been redistributed to other autonomous communities, but does not confirm that it reached every part of Spain.
Consumers should check the label and avoid using any bottle that matches the brand, batch number and date. The advice applies even if the bottle has been kept refrigerated and looks or smells normal. AESAN has not named a particular retailer.
Anyone who has already eaten the affected product need not assume they are ill. However, AESAN advises seeking medical attention if symptoms compatible with salmonellosis develop, including diarrhoea or vomiting accompanied by fever and headache.
The alert has been sent to regional authorities to check that affected products are removed from sale. The notice does not state how many bottles are involved or report illnesses linked to this batch.
