The Asociación Amigos del Teatro Ciudad de Marbella will present its adaptation of José Zorrilla’s “Don Juan Tenorio” at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella in two performances: Saturday, 31 October, at 8pm, and Sunday, 1 November, at 6pm. The dates and times were announced by Marbella City Council.

Tickets cost €10 and are available online through mientrada.net and at the theatre box office. The municipal notice does not specify whether the performances have an age recommendation or how long the production runs.

The group is staging the work at the city’s main municipal performance venue, rather than in the historic locations used for some of its earlier productions. The council says the association has previously performed the play in different cultural spaces linked to Marbella’s heritage, including the Hospital Real de la Misericordia and the Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo.

The production is supported by the Fundación José Banús y Pilar Calvo, described by the council as a protective partner of the association, and the municipal Culture department. The group is made up of amateur theatre performers.

Zorrilla’s drama was first published in 1844. Its story is set in Seville around 1545, in the final years of the reign of Charles V. The council describes it as a religious-fantastical drama in two parts and seven acts, and one of the best-known works of Spanish Romanticism.

Both performances are scheduled at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella. Visitors can buy tickets online or directly from the venue’s box office.
